How to clean and store intimate products

Clean before and after, every time

Warm water and unscented soap handles most products. Rinse thoroughly — residue is more irritating than the soap itself — and pay attention to seams, ridges and the base of any suction opening.

A dedicated toy cleaner is convenient rather than necessary, but useful for products that can't be submerged.

Dry completely before storing

Moisture trapped in a pouch is the most common cause of a musty product. Air-dry fully on a clean towel, then store.

Store items separately

Silicone stored against other silicone can react and go tacky. Individual cotton pouches or a lined case solve this and keep dust off.

Keep everything out of direct sunlight and away from heat.

Know when to retire something

Tackiness, discolouration, cracks, tears or a persistent smell after cleaning all mean it's time to replace the product.
